The Best Bronzers For Summer

The Best Bronzers For Summer

It’s after memorial day so you know what that means? SUMMER IS HERE! That means afternoons by the pool, weekends at the lake, it also means, lots of sunscreen. I spend my whole summer staying as fair as possible because sun = wrinkles. Even though I spend my summer avoiding the sun I still love that healthy summer glow. To achieve that healthy goal we all desire, I turn to bronzers, lots of bronzers. I’ve rounded up 15 of my favorite bronzers for summer that you need if you are fair like me.

If you have fair skin, summer can be tough because it is very difficult to avoid the sun. I love the sun and outdoors so much but I know how important it is to protect my skin from the harsh summer rays. In summer, I love to layer on sunscreen (if you want to know what my favorite sunscreens are you can find that here) , and I always wear a hat. Because of my intense sunscreen routine, bronzer is a vital part of my everyday summer makeup routine.

Where my pale girls at? People with my skin tone usually don’t know what it is like to have a tan, fair skin goes straight from very fair to bright pink. AND SUNBURNT SKIN IS NEVER IN STYLE.

Bronzers are the best way to achieve that healthy summer glow without exposing your skin to dangerous sun rays. Skin cancer is real y’all! , avoiding the sun and using bronzers is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, and your future skin. I like to remind myself that every tan on your face also means a new wrinkle to your face. Thank goodness for bronzers because we no longer have to worry about getting sun on our face to achieve the glistening summer skin we all desire.

I have always been a very big fan of bronzers in high school I was obsessed with Bonnebell’s Glimmer Bronze. Does anyone remember Bonnebell?! They were famous for their lipsmackers but their bronzer was everything!!!!

And now for my list of best bronzers for summer.

For clarification, bronzers are different than contour powders. Bronzers usually have some sort of shine to them and have more of an orange color. Bronzers are meant to make you look more tan. Contour powders have a matte finish and are meant to make your face look thinner. Bronzing powders are to bronze which is why they are so important for summer. Glad that we cleared that up.

What are your favorite bronzers for summer?! or actually for anytime of the year.

Happy Summer! XOXO

The Best Sunscreens For Your Face

The Best Sunscreens For Your Face

Yay for the warm weather and spending lots of time outside. I mean, we all love some fun in the sun, I especially love an afternoon by the lake or pool. If you’re like me and love to spend time outdoors than a really great sunscreen should be your best friend. I am obsessed with sunscreen, especially really good sunscreens for your face so I thought it was time I share my favorites.

Did you know that you should be using a different sunscreen on your face then you use on your body? It makes sense right? Your face is such delicate skin you should be using an SPF with a delicate formula.

My mom taught me the importance of sun protection at a young age so I was never one of those girls who spent time in a tanning bed or used coconut oil to accelerate my tan. I could talk for days about the importance of sunscreen, but I am sure all of you know by now that you have to wear sunscreen every day and you need to reapply it often.

I know you have heard this 100 times before but it’s worth repeating, melanoma is real !!! Not only can the sun cause cancer but also wrinkles, no thank you! 90% of premature skin aging is caused by the sun’s harmful rays, today’s tan could be tomorrow’s wrinkles, again, no thank you.

Last week I talked about the best foundation for summer so I thought it was time I put together a roundup of the best sunscreens to wear under makeup or just by themselves. These sunscreens offer the necessary UV protection with a lightweight & non-sticky, flawless finish that plays nicely with makeup.

MY FAVORITE SUNSCREENS FOR YOUR FACE

Pro Tip: sunscreen is the last thing you should apply in your morning skincare routine right before your makeup. The best way to make your makeup play nice with your sunscreen is to wait for your SPF to absorb completely before putting makeup on top of it.  Let it sink into your skin for about five minutes before starting your makeup routine.

What is your favorite sunscreen for summer? Let me know in the comments!

Lake Day Beauty Essentials – Monday Morning Obsessions

Lake Day Beauty Essentials – Monday Morning Obsessions

My love for bodies of water is undeniable. I love being near all types of bodies of water, I love to lounge on a raft with a cold drink and a good book. I could do just that for days, I have never tried but I want to!

This summer I was able to take a very extended trip to Alabama to visit my friends and enjoy some relaxing days. My favorite part of my visit to Birmingham, Alabama was my weekends spent at Smith Lake. Its the most dreamy lake I have ever visited and if you’ve been watching my Instagram stories you know that I am OBSESSED with Smith Lake. Our friends own a  home on the lake and we spent our days playing and lounging in the water and our nights singing karaoke at the top of our lungs. Smith Lake is the backdrop to all of my favorite summer weekends.

Say you are at the lake but maybe you don’t want to get your hair wet, the splash saddle is a must. You sit on it like a saddle and it keeps your body in the lake to about your chest.

Skincare Essentials I Never Leave Home Without

Skincare Essentials I Never Leave Home Without

Let’s talk about skincare! Often when traveling the priorities of items packed often change but my skincare routine is one thing I keep consistent.

I have very dry, sensitive skin so I am very cautious with what items I put on my skin. I am also very cognisant to maintain the same skin care routine whether I am home in Southern California or traveling elsewhere.

Skin Care Essentials

Now let’s get to the best skin care products for traveling with dry skin.

  1. Gentle face wash; Traditionally I stick to Aveeno face wash but received the BRTC foaming cleanser in an IPSY bag and am very happy with the results. This past trip I wanted a travel size cleanser so this time around it replaced my normal, gentle face wash.
  2. Daily moisturizer with sunscreen; post shower I immediately put face lotion and body lotion on. Again, my skin is DRY so if I don’t get the added moisture from the shower absorbed into my skin, then I’m going to have a horribly EXTRA dry day. My daily face lotion changes on the time of year but usually the line up consists of Aveeno, CeraVe, and Neutrogena.
  3. Face Serum; I have read many varying opinions on when to put face serum BUT I always put face serum on after my daily moisturizer and before my primer. It really helps my skin absorb both the moisturizer and the serum. I switch off between an argan-based skin serum and this rosehip oil.
  4. Hydrocortisone cream; once more, my skin is sensitive!! I constantly get small rashes on my face, these rashes are normally around the eyes and mouth, and this Aveeno cream immediately tackles the issue.
  5. Moisturizing face mask; anything and everything Peter Thomas Roth does is amazing but I am really living for this gentle face mask. I use this mask 2 – 3 times a week and it really helps with fine lines and dehydrated skin. My skin goes a little crazy when I travel to new climates and constantly using this helps avoid that craziness.
  6. Sheet Mask; I like to do a sheet mask once a week, it’s the best way for my skin to really soak up some deep moisture. To be honest, I have absolutely no alliance to one brand when it comes to sheet masks but I always look for a product that contains hyaluronic acid.

On top of these essentials, my favorite and my most recommended skin care product is sunscreen. Never forget the anti-aging power of sun protection!

I am always looking for new skin care routines and products, my current regiment is working great but as weather changes so do skin care priorities. I would love to know everyone’s skincare essentials, what products should I add to my travel essentials?
