Monday Must Haves: 5 Things I Am Obsessed With This Week

Monday Must Haves: 5 Things I Am Obsessed With This Week

Happy Monday! Is Monday an exciting start to a new week or a four-letter word for you? My answer changes depending on the week. This week, I am starting the week feeling happy, confident and excited to conquer the week. Feeling this great on a Monday morning is not the norm for me, the words I would normally use to describe my Monday morning would probably be tired, unmotivated and dehydrated. I guess the saying “A Sunday well spent brings a week of content” is probably true.

Women's Summer Fashion
Happy Monday Y’all!

When I first started blogging, almost a year ago (WHAT?!?) I consistently posted the things I was obsessed with that week. Somehow in the past 10 months, I got away from this weekly blog post and honestly, I missed it. So here I am declaring that Monday Must Haves is BACK!

I was going to dedicate this Monday Must Haves to Mother’s Day gifts but I feel like there are plenty of Mother’s Day gift guides all over the internet. You can find my favorite gift guides here, here and here.

Okay, here is what I am obsessing over this week.

The perfect nude lipstick combo

I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a nude lip that I love. I get bored with my lipstick way too easy so I am constantly changing my everyday lip. For the past few months, I have been using the same lip liner and lipstick duo and I can’t see to get enough of the combo.

A Great Fitting Bodysuit

Dead To Me

WHOA! This show. My mind is blown. The surprises keep coming and coming, so dang good. Also, its produced by Will Farrell so that means it must be good, right?! Its a must watch, fortunately, it’s on Netflix so basically you can binge it all in one afternoon.

High Waisted Bikinis

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

If you have been watching my Wine Wednesday Instagram stories you know I am obsessed with a nice chilled Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. I love the crisp, citrus heavy flavors that New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blanc’s give, the perfect wine for an afternoon by the pool.

Here is a list of My favorite New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc’s that you can easily purchase in America at a great price point:

  1. Matua
  2. Oyster Bay
  3. Kim Crawford
  4. Wairau River
  5. Whitehaven

I am always on the hunt for new things to add to my list of weekly obsessions, so I need to know what are you obsessing over this week?

Hope you have the best week!

Things I’m Obsessing Over This Week: Wellness Products Worth Trying

Things I’m Obsessing Over This Week: Wellness Products Worth Trying

This past weekend I attended the Wanderlust Wellspring Festival here in Palm Springs, what a fun event! This event is targeted at the greater community of wellness innovators, brands, influencers, and enthusiasts. It was a weekend full of cool workout classes, meditation, insightful talks on the health and wellness industry, the list goes on and on.  The purpose of the event is to connect wellness leaders and enthusiasts, discover the latest products and witness trends taking place in the wellness industry. A wellness event like no other.

I had the opportunity to try out so many amazing products but for the sake of this blog post I narrowed it down to my top 5 favorite products from the Wellspring Festival.

5 Wellness Products Worth Trying

Swisse Vitamins and Supplements

I’ve used their skin nails liquid for a while but this event introduced me to their Swisse Ultiboost Sleep, a sleep support supplement containing magnesium and herbs. One of the key ingredients in this product is valerian, a more natural pure ingredient compared to its melatonin counterpart.  I struggle with sleep, have for many years so I am always on the lookout for an all natural sleep product. The Ultiboost sleep is my new go to and I know how clean the ingredients are so I never have to worry about feeling my body with junk.

Such a relaxing meditating space

Flow Water

This stuff is so damn good. I am trying to cut back the amount of soda I drink so I am always on the lookout for new delicious drinks and this one is a winner. It is a supernatural, delicious alkaline water that has the right amount of sweetness. I suffer from really bad acid reflux and the one thing that has completely helped all of my symptoms is alkaline water. So not only is Flow Water delicious but it also is really helping my acid reflux symptoms.

My Favorite: Strawberry and Rose Flavored

Flow Alkaline Spring Water is for sure my new go-to water

Bulletproof Coffee

I have read the reviews on Bulletproof Coffee but never took the time to invest in the product. I was given a few boxes of bulletproof coffee at the event and I’m a believer. I think a lot of people are scared of bulletproof coffee because of its high-fat content but it is a meal replacement that will absolutely keep you full until lunch. Not only does it keep you feeling full but it also helps your brain stay focused throughout the day, win, win, win.

My Favorite: Orignal Coldbrew Plue Collagen Protein

RX Bar

I hate eggs, I wish I loved them because I know the health benefits they contain but seriously since I was a little teeny tiny kid I have always hated eggs. When you see RX bar at the store one of the first ingredients on the label is eggs, for that reason alone I have always been so wary of this product. BUT! I finally tried RX bar over the weekend and I am a believer! YUMMMM!!! I tried a ton of different varieties of this bar but the one I fell in love with and will be purchasing ASAP is the Chocolate Sea Salt, SO. DANG. GOOD!

Purely Elizabeth

Okay, this is not a new product to me but I saw the represented over the weekend and just had to give a huge shout out to them because I love their product. I first discovered their product last year when I was on a grain free diet. My favorite breakfast is yogurt with granola and I was really struggling to find a grain-free granola at a good price point and then  I discovered Purely Elizabeth. Since discovering this brand I have tried a majority of their products, my all time favorite is The Purely Elizabeth Probiotic Gluten Free Granola, Chocolate Sea Salt. I didn’t realize I loved Chocolate Sea Salt so much but apparently, I have a type.

I love that I live in Palm Springs and have the opportunity to attend such cool events like this one. Thanks so much to Swisse Vitamins and Supplements for having me, I had such a blast and can’t wait to go back next year!

Monday Morning Obsessions: Reality Television to Binge this Week.

This weekend was a unique one for us, it was the first weekend in a very long time that my husband had to work through the weekend. He’s a geologist so a working weekend is a real rarity. While I wish he was home and we were able to go do something fun it was a nice opportunity to catch up on all of my trash TV, Reality TV. I fancy myself a reality TV expert, I love it, all of it.

Since I was a kid watching The Real World, I have always loved reality TV. In fact, the first paper I wrote in college was about the history of reality TV. While I love it all there is a few reality TV shows that I am so excited for every week and here they are.

90 Day Fiance

90 Day Fiance

What a gem!! I’m so thankful for the wonderful people at TLC for greenlighting this show. If you have not yet seen, this show follows an American and their foreign partner as they come to America through the K1 Visa. This show is on every Sunday night and needs to be watched. This weekend I did a Q & A with my husband on Instagram during the show and it was so funny! I honestly think this is the best show on TV! Yup, I said it.

Teen Mom 2

MTV’s Teen Mom 2

I’m going to be so honest, I wish I didn’t love this show. It has turned into such a trashy show that and the show now has very little to do with being an actual mom and more to do with inflated egos. There was an episode this season that still has me shook, after a road rage issue Jenelle followed a man to his home where she proceeded to pull her gun on him, all while her 9-year-old son is in the front seat.

TLC Unexpected

If you loved 16 and Pregnant, TLC has a new show called Unexpected, totally worth a watch, it’s so good!

The Real Housewives Of New York

The Real Housewives of New York City

This season was just one exciting thing after another. Honestly, I wish it was like Big Brother and I could have watched the LuAnn saga every day. I am counting down the hours until the reunion this week. I love all the housewives franchises but this is on a whole different level.

Now that RHONY is coming to an end I am so excited to dive all the way into Real Housewives of Dallas. This season is going to be so good because Leeanne Locken is crazy.

Floribama Shore

Floribama Shore Cast

This show. I find all of the characters on this show rather annoying and yet I still tune in every single week. This was MTV’s attempt to duplicate the success of Jersey Shore, nothing will EVER be the Jersey Shore but it is a very good attempt.

Okay, for as much as I love Reality TV there is one show I’ve never been able to watch, The Bachelor. I find the characters boring and its such a time commitment but maybe I need to give it a try. Is there one season of The Bachelor that I should watch that will totally get me hooked?

Happy Watching!

The Best Home Products Purchased On Amazon

The Best Home Products Purchased On Amazon

I love Amazon, I mean, honestly who doesn’t? 2-day shipping on basically everything, great prices and super convenient. I love online shopping so Amazon is a great friend of mine.

Earlier this year we were getting ready to put our home in Birmingham on the market before our move back to California and I needed a few decorative things fast so I turned to my trusted old friend, Amazon. I was able to give my home a few of the cute things it needed and the house sold in the first week, HALLELUJAH!

I have purchased so many home products from Amazon this year that it was super tough to pick my favorites but here we go.

AmazonBasics Microfiber Sheet Set

Queen Sheet Set

I just added these to our bed in our guest bedroom and they are great. I go a bit overboard on sheets because I love a really nice set and this is for sure the nicest set I have ever seen under $50 and even better they are only $19.99.

Ojia Decorative Plush Mongolian Faux Fur Throw Pillow Cover Cushion Case

Faux Fur Throw Pillow

I never have had just a plain white comforter so when I added the new duvet to my bed I immediately thought it needed color and a little bit of texture and that’s exactly what I got with this pillowcase. Its so cute, my husband doesn’t understand it but I love it.

AUSHEN Desk Lamp, Rose Gold Lamp,Metal Table Lamp with Fabric Shades

Rose Gold Lamp

I was specifically looking for a rose gold lamp to add to my room and everything I was finding was super expensive so where did I turn, Amazon, duh! Super happy with this purchase but you have to use a LED bulb or else it gets too warm.

Rizzy Home Solid Velvet with Self Flange Decorative Pillow, 18 by 18-Inch, Light Purple

Velvet Pillow

This says light purple but I would say this is much more of a grey then a light purple. This helped complete my bed look; love the light neutrals with the white duvet. Also, the rivets around the edge are so cute!

Bamboo Cheese Board with Cutlery Set, Charcuterie Platter with Slide-out Drawer with 4 Stainless Steel/Bamboo Knives Server Set.

Charcuterie Board

I love like love love a charcuterie board. Sometimes for dinner, we will buy some fancy cheeses and drink wine and pretend its healthy. I have a few charcuterie boards but this is the only one with the server set included within the board which is kind of a fun touch.

KingLinen White Down Alternative Comforter Duvet Insert King

This was absolutely a convenience purchase that I just fell in love with. I needed a new duvet insert and had no time to venture to purchase one so during my work day I bought off Amazon for next day delivery and could not be more pleased with the quality of this duvet insert.

Thirstystone Round White Marble/Gold Edged Coasters (Set of 4), Multicolor

Marble Coasters

I love decorating with rock items, I mean a geologist does live with me after all. These are super cute and really go with my southwest theme in my living room, I really hope this white rock trend never goes away.

Now Designs Bamboo Utensils, Set of 5, Multi-Color

Rainbow Kitchen Utensils

How cute are these?! I had plain all black utensils and wanted to upgrade, bought these and couldn’t be happier with the fun colors they bring to my kitchen.

I trust Amazon for a lot but really wasn’t so sure about buying clothes from Amazon until recently. Thanks to my new favorite blogger, Katy Roach, my mind has completely changed on Amazon clothing purchases. I have bought so many cute items this summer and I can’t wait to do a blog post on those items. If you aren’t following Katy, do yourself a favor and go on over to her blog and give it a read, so many great Amazon finds!

What are your favorite Amazon Prime purchases? I would love to talk to someone that does a majority of their grocery shopping on Amazon Prime because Amazon Grocery really intrigues me.

Easy Everyday Makeup Routine and Products

Easy Everyday Makeup Routine and Products

I have finally come to a place in my makeup routine where I have a few beauty products that I use every day, I think I have perfected my everyday beauty routine. If I want a more glam look or maybe a more polished look for a meeting I’m going to, I will alter a bit but for the most part, I like sticking to the basics that work best for me. I have dry sensitive skin so I am very particular with what I put on my face both for skin care as well as makeup.

Summer Makeup Must Haves

This post is in order of application:

Primer: After I complete my skincare routine (that’s a whole different post coming soon) I always start my makeup routine with NYX Professional Makeup Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray I realize its a setting spray and not a primer but it really does wonders when applied first. It helps my foundation stay on my face all day even in this extreme heat we have been facing here in Palm Springs.

Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup this stuff is legit magic. I have seen this foundation on social media for years and finally decided to purchase and was blown away. I have a hard time finding makeup for my dry skin that can also stand the heat of Palm Springs and this one does it all. I really love this product because a little goes a long way. I put one small dot on my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and just press it into my skin and seriously FLAWLESS. This is a full coverage foundation but it really does feel so nice and lightweight.

Setting Powder: Sephora Collection – MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder if you have dry, patchy skin this powder is a necessity! In 2016, I had my make up done in San Francisco for a wedding and the makeup artist used this and I was blown away. It is light and perfect. A little of this product goes a long way! One compact will last approximately 6 months, super economic.

Bronzer: Then I quickly use a matte bronzer just to warm up my face a bit. I find most matte bronzers to be chalky and a weird consistency but have had great luck with the Two Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, I’ve used this in the past and have always loved it and last week I found it at TJ Maxx for $3.99!!!! legit, what a steal. I apply this to under my cheekbones and the top of my forehead, I have a huge forehead and this helps to minimize the appearance of my extra large forehead.

Blush: On a recent Ulta haul I bought the Morphe Blushing Babes Blush Trio this collection is $12 and it’s so rich in color. That price point for beautiful, perfect blush is mind-blowing! I buy the pop of pink pack and its the perfect trio of blushes for my fair skin.

Highlighter: I’m super weird about highlighter, in that I have lots of opinions. I stay far away from highlighters with a white undertone, these look fine until you see a picture of yourself the next day and completely regret the bright white highlighter. I generally go with a yellow undertone as this looks the best with my skin tone and honestly photographs best. When it comes to highlighter I’m a bit of a hoarder. My current favorite is a combination. I take Milk Makeup Highlighter and rub the product on the back of my hand to warm it up then I take the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and apply it to the spots on my face I want to be highlighted. I normally do my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and a few light dabs on my chin. Then I lightly apply Jouer Powder Highlighter on top and it makes the most beautiful highlight.

Sidenote: I used the Beauty Blender for ages but one day I was looking for a cheaper alternative and purchased the real techniques version and will never ever go back. I’m obsessed. Its so good and legit a quarter the costs of the beauty blender.

Eyebrows: I have naturally very thin eyebrows so the obsession with dark, thick eyebrows will never work on me. I line the top of my eyebrows and softly fill in my eyebrows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil and am good to go. This product is the best, I’ve had the pencil for over a year and it still has plenty of product left.

Eyeliner: In an effort to make my eyes look a splash bigger than they actually are, I take the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in the color desperation and very softly line the top lash line. I don’t personally like black eyeliner if feels too drastic on my eyes.

Mascara: If you follow me on Instagram, if you don’t follow me here, anyways I am constantly talking about one thing and that is my love for L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, I wear the color Blackest Black in the waterproof version. It’s the holy grail of mascara, seriously. It makes my eyelashes look more voluminous and longer than ever before. I curl my eyelashes then heavily layer this mascara on its so good.

Lips:  I am OBSESSED with lip products but the everyday look I talked about on an earlier blog post that can be found hereMonday Morning Obsessions: The Perfect Summer Nude Lip

I love makeup and am always searching for new products, spending hours in Ulta or Sephora testing out every new product sounds like the perfect Saturday to me. I read a lot about new products and always try to stay up to date on new releases but on top of that my best friend works in the beauty industry and she is constantly giving me new products that I usually fall in love with. Luckily, we have very different skin tones so she always saves all the fair shades for me, she keeps my make up vanity FULL!

What are some holy grail products that you can’t live without? I love new products and I am sure my husband loves when I add to my makeup collection.
