I LOVE Tarte Shape Tape, I mean who doesn’t? It is truly one of the best makeup products that I use. Shape Tape covers everything, blends easily, stays in place all day long and is actual magic in a tube. It’s also $27 a tube, which is a bit expensive. With all of the hype around this product, I knew there had to be Shape Tape Concealer Dupes out there. And guess what? I found the best dupes!
I have searched months and MONTHS for Tarte Shape Tape dupes. While my search has led me to a few less than desirable products (no need to name names), there’s been a few concealers from the drugstore that have completely blown me away.
Worth mentioning, one tube of Tarte Shape Tape will last 3 – 4 months. The phrase, a little goes a long way REALLY applies to this product! With all that being said, that price tag for one tube of concealer does not always fit into the budget!
If you’re looking for a high coverage concealer that covers everything without breaking the bank, I got you! I’ve rounded up all of the best Tarte Shape Tape concealer dupes on the market! There are so many amazing drugstore dupes out there, it is crazy!
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer Dupes
In addition to a great concealer, you also need a great applicator to apply the concealer. I like to place a bit on the back of my hand, let my skin warm up the formula a bit, then I take my ring finger and apply the concealer in the desired spots. Once the product is on my face I then take my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and dab the product into my skin REAL GOOD. Just dab, dab, dab away. I know people swear by the beauty blender sponge but the real techniques sponge is my all time favorite!
While all of these are dupes for Shape tape I would be lying if I told you I didn’t have a favorite. There was one concealer that immediately stood out to me is the Infallible Concealer.
Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the shape tape and the L’Oreal Infallible Concealer, it is that good! It is quite ironic that once again the L’Oreal option was my favorite dupe. I previously wrote a blog post all about my favorite Estee Lauder Double Wear Dupes and L’Oreal was my favorite Estee Lauder Double Wear dupe as well. As it turns out L’Oreal just makes some amazing products, like have you tried their Lash Paradise!?! Perfection! Shoot, at this point L’Oreal should be sponsoring my blog !!!
If you have any suggestions for the next product I should find a drugstore dupe for, let me know! The truth is my favorite lip colors and mascara are all from the drugstore. And I have absolutely no alliance to eyeshadow, I use a new palette every day. So figuring out what everyday product I can replace with a drugstore dupe is tricky. I’m thinking it will probably have to be a skincare product. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see! I love hunting down the best drugstore dupes, these blog posts are always my favorite!
If you were to visit my lipstick collection right now you would think I have a problem. I’m (almost) embarrassed. When it comes to lipsticks, I am a bit of a hoarder. The amount of lip colors I have in my makeup collection is ridiculous. I do have a vast variety of lip colors but the majority, I’m talking a solid 75%, are nude lip products. Take one look at my Instagram and you know I LOVE a nude lip.
If you’re a true lipstick connoisseur, as I fancy myself, you know that every nude lip product is special in its way. Matte, shiny, lipsticks pencils, glosses, creams – the possibilities are endless when it comes to shades and finishes!
I love a bold, bright lip now and then but my favorite for every day are different shades of the perfect nude. My favorite part about a nude lip color is its the perfect lip color for every day of the year.
My goal when applying my everyday lipstick is I want my lips to look natural but better. In my opinion, the perfect nude lip color is a heavy brown undertone with a splash of pink. So today, I am sharing my top nude lip products. In this list of favorites, there is a variety of colors and consistencies but they are all wonderful in their way.
Lip products are one of the few makeup items that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a quality product. My lipstick collection is a solid mix of drugstore and high end. But every morning when I am searching for the perfect color I constantly find myself grabbing a NYX product or lately its been a Maybelline lip color.
Let’s get started with the best nude lip products.
Pro-tip: I never, ever put lipstick on my lips without first lining and filling in my entire lip with a nice lip liner. This is so important to note because these shades that I recommend will look so much different without the lip liner base.
No matter where I am shopping at; Nordstrom, TJ MAXX, Target, you name it, I always gravitate towards the makeup section to try and find a new lip product I haven’t yet discovered. I am a bit obsessed! I try hard to talk myself out of buying a new nude lip color but somehow I always manage to find a way to justify it. “Well, this one is a little more brown than peach.” I know, I know, I sound like a crazy person.
What does your everyday lip color collection look like? Let me know if the comments below!
This past week we had our first day of 110-degree weather, you know what that means?! It’s officially Summer! A new season means a new makeup routine and my summer makeup bag has all of my favorite products in it. My summer makeup bag includes a lot of bronzer and products with SPF and absolutely no burnt orange eyeshadow.
There is a myth out there that if you spend a ton of money on makeup then you are buying the best products, nope, no way, absolutely not true. The products I use on my everyday face is a nice 50 / 50 split between drugstore and high-end products. The best makeup comes at all price points.
In addition to this blog post, I also have a makeup and summer makeup routine saved on my Instagram story highlights. While I love to talk about all things makeup and beauty on my blog and Instagram, let me preface this blog post by saying I am in no way shape or form a beauty expert. I just really like makeup and love to talk about it with other makeup lovers.
For me, summer is all about a natural, bronzy, highlighted face. Even though it is not my reality, I love to look like I spent the last week on a beach in the Bahamas, I mean but really, who doesn’t? Okay, time to talk about all things summer makeup.
Summer Makeup Products
Before I put on any makeup I always curl my eyelashes, apply Aveeno daily lotion and then some sort of primer for dry skin. This summer, I am switching off between Becca’s First Light Priming Filter Face Primer and Tarte’s Base Tape.
After I let my primer dry for a few minutes it’s time for some foundation. For summer, I mix IT cosmetics CC cream (shade: light) and Revlon ColorStay foundation (shade: natural beige), I like the consistency of this mixture as well as the shade it creates. I mix the combination up on the back of my hand and then apply it with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, this sponge is unbelievable.
Like everyone else, I use Tarte Shape Tape (shade: light sand) and think it’s magical. I put a little product on my ring fingers and just dab, dab, dab under my eyes and then take the pointy end of the real techniques sponge and dab some more. This product lasts all day and gives the perfect amount of coverage.
I have super dry skin so I use a very light amount of powder on top of my makeup. Just a quick swipe over my face with a fluffy brush and that it, I’m done. In summer, I use IT Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder for an additional layer of sun protection, SPF is king in my life.
Bronzer is a must have in summer, give me all the bronzer. I wrote a blog post all about my favorite bronzers, you can read that here. For application, I lightly dab my brush in the product and I start by going in on my forehead, I brush, brush, brush until it is blended. Then I take that brush and apply bronzer under my cheekbones and keep brushing until everything is nicely blended together. For bronzer, it’s very important to start with a little amount of product and build to the color of your liking. I constantly change the bronzer I use, my favorites are listed below.
I love blush, LOVEEEE!!! This summer, I am using the Morphe Blush Trio in color pop of pink, three perfect shades for summer. I lightly put it on the apples of my cheeks and that’s it, just a little splash of color.
I like to shine to the gods! Shine bright! If I want a super glowed up look I will start with a cream highlighter (I use Milk Makeup highlighter in shade Lit) and then top with a powder highlighter. If I want less shine, then I will just use the powder. I’ve been using the Jouer highlighter in color Topaz forever, it’s amazing, I’m obsessed.
This is probably weird to most people but for eyeshadow, I use all face products. For my base, I use IT cosmetics powder and take an eyeshadow brush and put it all over my lid. After my eyelid is covered, I now go in with my crease brush and put bronzer in the crease and I blend, blend, blend. I then take a blending brush and blend the crease out. After the bronzer is completely blended out, I then dap my ring finger in my highlighter and just lightly dab on my eyelids. tada! The perfect summer eyelid. If I am looking for a more made up look than I use Kat Von D eyeliner. I think less makeup is best for summer so most days are no eyeliner days.
If you have been around here for a while you know I live for Lash Paradise. Its the best, yes I have tried Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and I still prefer Lash Paradise. I always prime my eyelashes with L’oreal’s primer and then use two coats of Lash Paradise.
Filling in my eyebrows its a must! My eyebrows are naturally so thin! I look naked without my eyebrows filled in. For my eyebrows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and it is the perfect product!
My favorite topic. I use a new lipstick every day, seriously, I love lipstick. My go to is a nude lipstick with heavy brown undertones. Before I touch my lips with the lipstick I always line and fill in my lips with lip liner, this is so important!!!! Lipliner makes all the difference, seriously. I never use the same lipstick combo so I have listed all of my favorite lip liners, lipsticks and lip glosses below.
Now that you know ALL of my summer go to’s. What is your number one must use summer beauty product?!
It’s after memorial day so you know what that means? SUMMER IS HERE! That means afternoons by the pool, weekends at the lake, it also means, lots of sunscreen. I spend my whole summer staying as fair as possible because sun = wrinkles. Even though I spend my summer avoiding the sun I still love that healthy summer glow. To achieve that healthy goal we all desire, I turn to bronzers, lots of bronzers. I’ve rounded up 15 of my favorite bronzers for summer that you need if you are fair like me.
If you have fair skin, summer can be tough because it is very difficult to avoid the sun. I love the sun and outdoors so much but I know how important it is to protect my skin from the harsh summer rays. In summer, I love to layer on sunscreen (if you want to know what my favorite sunscreens are you can find that here) , and I always wear a hat. Because of my intense sunscreen routine, bronzer is a vital part of my everyday summer makeup routine.
Where my pale girls at? People with my skin tone usually don’t know what it is like to have a tan, fair skin goes straight from very fair to bright pink. AND SUNBURNT SKIN IS NEVER IN STYLE.
Bronzers are the best way to achieve that healthy summer glow without exposing your skin to dangerous sun rays. Skin cancer is real y’all! , avoiding the sun and using bronzers is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, and your future skin. I like to remind myself that every tan on your face also means a new wrinkle to your face. Thank goodness for bronzers because we no longer have to worry about getting sun on our face to achieve the glistening summer skin we all desire.
I have always been a very big fan of bronzers in high school I was obsessed with Bonnebell’s Glimmer Bronze. Does anyone remember Bonnebell?! They were famous for their lipsmackers but their bronzer was everything!!!!
And now for my list of best bronzers for summer.
For clarification, bronzers are different than contour powders. Bronzers usually have some sort of shine to them and have more of an orange color. Bronzers are meant to make you look more tan. Contour powders have a matte finish and are meant to make your face look thinner. Bronzing powders are to bronze which is why they are so important for summer. Glad that we cleared that up.
What are your favorite bronzers for summer?! or actually for anytime of the year.
Yay for the warm weather and spending lots of time outside. I mean, we all love some fun in the sun, I especially love an afternoon by the lake or pool. If you’re like me and love to spend time outdoors than a really great sunscreen should be your best friend. I am obsessed with sunscreen, especially really good sunscreens for your face so I thought it was time I share my favorites.
Did you know that you should be using a different sunscreen on your face then you use on your body? It makes sense right? Your face is such delicate skin you should be using an SPF with a delicate formula.
My mom taught me the importance of sun protection at a young age so I was never one of those girls who spent time in a tanning bed or used coconut oil to accelerate my tan. I could talk for days about the importance of sunscreen, but I am sure all of you know by now that you have to wear sunscreen every day and you need to reapply it often.
I know you have heard this 100 times before but it’s worth repeating, melanoma is real !!! Not only can the sun cause cancer but also wrinkles, no thank you! 90% of premature skin aging is caused by the sun’s harmful rays, today’s tan could be tomorrow’s wrinkles, again, no thank you.
Last week I talked about the best foundation for summer so I thought it was time I put together a roundup of the best sunscreens to wear under makeup or just by themselves. These sunscreens offer the necessary UV protection with a lightweight & non-sticky, flawless finish that plays nicely with makeup.
MY FAVORITE SUNSCREENS FOR YOUR FACE
Pro Tip: sunscreen is the last thing you should apply in your morning skincare routine right before your makeup. The best way to make your makeup play nice with your sunscreen is to wait for your SPF to absorb completely before putting makeup on top of it. Let it sink into your skin for about five minutes before starting your makeup routine.
