The Best Bronzers For Summer

The Best Bronzers For Summer

It’s after memorial day so you know what that means? SUMMER IS HERE! That means afternoons by the pool, weekends at the lake, it also means, lots of sunscreen. I spend my whole summer staying as fair as possible because sun = wrinkles. Even though I spend my summer avoiding the sun I still love that healthy summer glow. To achieve that healthy goal we all desire, I turn to bronzers, lots of bronzers. I’ve rounded up 15 of my favorite bronzers for summer that you need if you are fair like me.

If you have fair skin, summer can be tough because it is very difficult to avoid the sun. I love the sun and outdoors so much but I know how important it is to protect my skin from the harsh summer rays. In summer, I love to layer on sunscreen (if you want to know what my favorite sunscreens are you can find that here) , and I always wear a hat. Because of my intense sunscreen routine, bronzer is a vital part of my everyday summer makeup routine.

Where my pale girls at? People with my skin tone usually don’t know what it is like to have a tan, fair skin goes straight from very fair to bright pink. AND SUNBURNT SKIN IS NEVER IN STYLE.

Bronzers are the best way to achieve that healthy summer glow without exposing your skin to dangerous sun rays. Skin cancer is real y’all! , avoiding the sun and using bronzers is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, and your future skin. I like to remind myself that every tan on your face also means a new wrinkle to your face. Thank goodness for bronzers because we no longer have to worry about getting sun on our face to achieve the glistening summer skin we all desire.

I have always been a very big fan of bronzers in high school I was obsessed with Bonnebell’s Glimmer Bronze. Does anyone remember Bonnebell?! They were famous for their lipsmackers but their bronzer was everything!!!!

And now for my list of best bronzers for summer.

For clarification, bronzers are different than contour powders. Bronzers usually have some sort of shine to them and have more of an orange color. Bronzers are meant to make you look more tan. Contour powders have a matte finish and are meant to make your face look thinner. Bronzing powders are to bronze which is why they are so important for summer. Glad that we cleared that up.

What are your favorite bronzers for summer?! or actually for anytime of the year.

Happy Summer! XOXO

The Best Sunscreens For Your Face

The Best Sunscreens For Your Face

Yay for the warm weather and spending lots of time outside. I mean, we all love some fun in the sun, I especially love an afternoon by the lake or pool. If you’re like me and love to spend time outdoors than a really great sunscreen should be your best friend. I am obsessed with sunscreen, especially really good sunscreens for your face so I thought it was time I share my favorites.

Sunscreen for face
Sunscreen For Summer

Did you know that you should be using a different sunscreen on your face then you use on your body? It makes sense right? Your face is such delicate skin you should be using an SPF with a delicate formula.

My mom taught me the importance of sun protection at a young age so I was never one of those girls who spent time in a tanning bed or used coconut oil to accelerate my tan. I could talk for days about the importance of sunscreen, but I am sure all of you know by now that you have to wear sunscreen every day and you need to reapply it often.

I know you have heard this 100 times before but it’s worth repeating, melanoma is real !!! Not only can the sun cause cancer but also wrinkles, no thank you! 90% of premature skin aging is caused by the sun’s harmful rays, today’s tan could be tomorrow’s wrinkles, again, no thank you.

Last week I talked about the best foundation for summer so I thought it was time I put together a roundup of the best sunscreens to wear under makeup or just by themselves. These sunscreens offer the necessary UV protection with a lightweight & non-sticky, flawless finish that plays nicely with makeup.

MY FAVORITE SUNSCREENS FOR YOUR FACE

Pro Tip: sunscreen is the last thing you should apply in your morning skincare routine right before your makeup. The best way to make your makeup play nice with your sunscreen is to wait for your SPF to absorb completely before putting makeup on top of it.  Let it sink into your skin for about five minutes before starting your makeup routine.

What is your favorite sunscreen for summer? Let me know in the comments!

The Best Summer Cocktails To Help You Survive The Heat.

The Best Summer Cocktails To Help You Survive The Heat.

My ideal summer day at home is sitting in the hot sun with a cold drink while lounging by the pool. I like a beer in summer but I really love a nice, light, refreshing cocktail to help me through extreme heat that is Palm Springs in the summer.

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July then with a few nice, new summer cocktails? We are leaving for a Mexican vacation this week so for the first time we are having a quiet day at home for the forth and I can’t wait to drink a few of these cocktails!

Here are a few of my tried and true favorite summer cocktails.

Monday Morning Obsessions: 5 Podcasts I Can’t Live Without.

Monday Morning Obsessions: 5 Podcasts I Can’t Live Without.

Since moving back to California from Alabama every weekend has been BUSY! driving all over the state busy. This weekend I spent 11 hours in the car to help celebrate some of my favorite people. I started the weekend in LA at SUR and Pump for a birthday party, drove home for a baby shower then drove back to LA to continue celebrating my husbands birthday with a comedy show at the Ace Hotel. Luckily I had an arsenal full of my favorite form of entertainment, podcasts, to help me pass the time in the car.

I really got into podcasting as a form of entertainment in 2014, with the rest of the world, while listening to Serial. I was OBSESSED with season 1 of Serial, I have listened to that season all the way through 5 times at this point and honestly probably could relisten to tomorrow.

This week my Monday Morning Obsessions are dedicated to my favorite podcasts that I am listening to right now. The podcasts that entertain me while I’m driving, working out, cleaning my house or when I’m looking for a soothing noise in the background.

My Favorite Murder

I am the proudest Murderino, I started listening to MFM on episode 2 and have LOVED watching this podcast grow into one of the most popular podcasts on iTunes. I am actually a huge scaredy cat so as much as I love listening to them advocate for the victims of some horrendous crimes I always google the crimes prior to listening to make sure there are no crimes that will keep me up at night.

I think the My Favorite Murder tagline says it all.

How I discovered My Favorite Murder: I was deep diving looking for a new crime podcast in 2016 when I discovered this podcast on iTunes new and noteworthy page, the best discovery I have ever made, thanks iTunes!

Bitch Sesh

Danielle Schneider and Casey Wilson, the hosts of this Bravo centric podcast, are hilarious comedians that break down all of the craziness that is Bravo TV programming. One of my favorite things to do is watch Bravo then discuss with other Bravo obsessed people like myself, so this podcast was made for me.  Every week they break down the biggest Bravo shows with hilarious commentary that you will only ever get from truly obsessed fans.

Is this podcast always factual? No. Does this podcast constantly make me laugh until I cry? Yes, yes, yes!!!

Casey and Danielle with the King of Bravo; Andy Cohen.

Must listen to episode: ANDY COHEN! Episode 52 he joins the ladies to talk all things housewives.

Embedded

NPR is constantly knocking it out of the park with their content and this is no exception. This podcast spends its seasons investigating a different look at highly publicized news topics; this past season they went into coal country and got the opinion of individuals being affected by coal country politics.

Must listen to episode: Season 1, episode 1. This episode has stuck with me like no other podcast. It goes inside a house in Austin, Indiana as they are faced head-on with the opiod epidemic.

Criminal

Vulture describes this podcast as a “true crime podcast that understands crime” and that seems to be an all-encompassing true statement about this wonderful, insightful crime podcast. This wonderfully produced podcast constantly brings light to crimes and victims that traditionally wouldn’t be on my radar.

Who doesn’t love a Heather from the San Fernando Valley?

If you love Heather McDonald’s podcast: then Reality Life with Kate Casey is also a must listen to.

What podcasts are you listening to this summer? I am always looking to grow my podcast line up with new, exciting podcasts. I have many more road trips in my future this summer and would love new podcasts to accompany me.
