I am always on the hunt for a deal, always. Whether its scouring the local Nordstrom Rack for hours to find the perfect shoes or reading 100 articles on drugstore beauty products, I like a deal and am willing to work and research to get the best deal.
When putting together this list I thought about all of the blogs I have read on this subject. I am constantly disappointed when I try the recommended dupes, I find the colors to be off, the textures to be a mess and just overall disappointed with the purchase. My list is short because I have only found a few tried and true dupes that I sincerely believe in, I know there will be no disappointment in these purchases.
All of the products listed below I have owned at some point in my life and most of them I currently own. The dupes – in my opinion – are extremely similar in texture, color, and overall feel. The one exception I do need to mention is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss, The Essence Lip Gloss dupe is great but does not have the staying power that the Anastasia Lip Gloss has.
Hope you enjoy this list, would love to know your current favorite drugstore dupes?
Pedicures, my absolute weakness! I am obsessed with getting pedicures, everything about it even the part when the file tickles the arch of your foot, I love it. Nasty feet REALLY gross me out so I do everything to make sure my feet are in sandal condition all year long. As much as I love a manicure its never been a top priority like pedicures are but I still frequently enjoy a manicure.
My ALL-TIME favorite summer nail polish color is Fiji by Essie, it has been my favorite since college. I spend 90% of my summer in this light pink color. Its perfect for all occasions its especially my favorite for newly engaged girls, its such a great bridal nail polish.
I don’t want to give up on summer but know the long, hot days are rapidly coming to an end. I usually talk about how much I hate fall but there are a lot of upsides to fall like my spaghetti squash is in season, a change of outfits and my personal favorite, my BIRTHDAY!
I am excited this fall to branch out of my normal nail polish colors and try all of these great nail polish colors.
I wish I could pinpoint why I love this color so much but I just do. This dark blue is a fun color that I wouldn’t traditionally get but the perfect shade for a manicure to accompany an oversized sweater and boots.
Let’s be honest, I love all these colors but I LOVEEEEEEE this color. It’s for sure my favorite color for Fall 2018.
I am going to make an effort to try all of these colors this upcoming season, especially this great green color.
Whats your all time favorite nail polish color? Besides Fiji by Essie, I am also a sucker for Lincoln Park After Dark by OPI. In my opinion, the dark purple is a great pedicure color no matter what time of year it is.
My love for bodies of water is undeniable. I love being near all types of bodies of water, I love to lounge on a raft with a cold drink and a good book. I could do just that for days, I have never tried but I want to!
This summer I was able to take a very extended trip to Alabama to visit my friends and enjoy some relaxing days. My favorite part of my visit to Birmingham, Alabama was my weekends spent at Smith Lake. Its the most dreamy lake I have ever visited and if you’ve been watching my Instagram stories you know that I am OBSESSED with Smith Lake. Our friends own a home on the lake and we spent our days playing and lounging in the water and our nights singing karaoke at the top of our lungs. Smith Lake is the backdrop to all of my favorite summer weekends.
I know we are coming to the close of summer and the end of pool and lake lounging but there are still some good, warm, weekends on our horizon specifically Labor Day. And who doesn’t want to look their best for the last long weekend of summer? I know I do!
While a lot of people might think that worrying about beauty for a lake day might be silly, I’m not a lot of people, I think lake day beauty is a fun, necessity. There have been some huge advances in summertime makeup and I hope my list of products inspires your pool or lake day look.
If you don’t have this brush, run fast and buy it!! Its great for summer when you are by the pool all day or any time of year after you get out of the shower. It immediately detangles your hair with absolutely no pain.
If you like to read a book while lounging, this float is necessary! It keeps you out of the water just the perfect amount!
I hope you all finish your summer off with a bang! I have some great plans to help me end my favorite season the right way. While I am heading back to California this week I still have many, many hours of pool lounging in Summer 2018.
I love beauty products, all of it, but makeup and beauty products get expensive fast. Sometimes the most expensive item doesn’t mean its the best product. There are so many amazing beauty items that can be purchased at a drugstore and are just as good, maybe better, than their expensive counterpart.
Over the years I have used hundreds of drugstore beauty products tons I loved, and tons I have hated. I’ll save the ones I hated for another day but today lets talk about my FAVES! All of these products listed below I use on the regular, I would say every day but there is never a week where I wear makeup every day.
Best Mascara I have ever used! Ever! Its the dupe for Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara but I swear its so much better! It’s good, really really good. If you are like me and like a thick, long eyelash than this is for you. I could go on forever about this mascara, it’s so darn good.
If you are into a long-wearing liquid lipstick, then this is the product for you! With a price point this low, you will want to purchase the entire collection. My two must have colors are baby doll and lipli. I use this as the base, let it dry, and top with lip gloss and will have high pigmented lips all day.
I have used a beauty blender for years but recently changed over to the real techniques sponge and am so impressed. The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Face Sponge is for those of us who like more of a full coverage when it comes foundation. This sponge gives a true flawless finish.
Such a great everyday face lotion. Scent free and the perfect daily lotion for sensitive skin. This product gives your skin so much moisture but feels light, not greasy at all, and is great to use under makeup.
I have to use a very gentle face wash because of overly sensitive skin and this stuff is great. So creamy and perfect for dry, sensitive skin. It doesn’t foam so that took a bit to get used to but past that it removes all make up right off.
What are some can’t live without drugstore must-haves that I need to purchase? I really would love to find a nonchalky, drugstore bronzer, suggestions?
This summer has been a unique one for me, its the first summer since I was in college that I haven’t spent my entire summer working in an office. The flexibility of working from home is nice and allows for a lot more time outdoors! Its also allowed me to visit some of the most beautiful bodies of waters, I never in a million years thought I would get a summer like this one. In fact, if you are following me on Instagram, you saw I spent this last weekend at my favorite place on earth, Smith Lake, just north of Birmingham, Alabama.
We all want to live every day of our life with tan, moisturized skin and soft, shiny hair but with lots of time in bodies of waters mixed with extreme heat, that dream can be very difficult to achieve.
All my summer activities and vacations revolve around being outside; I love to swim in our pool, lay by the beach, hang out on the lake, if its outdoors in the summer, I probably love it. I love summer but all this time outdoors really wreak havoc on my skin and hair. I have to take extra steps and precautions that I never took before to keep my skin glowing and my hair manageable. I have also invested in new products that I never thought I would purchase.
Now let’s talk about a few of my favorite beauty products that are getting me through the summer.
This product changes the summer make up game. Its super light on its own or you can pair it with a powder highlighter for a more dramatic look. On days when you are sitting by the pool and just want a light makeup, this is the best product. It gives you a very highlighted but dewy look and can be work just directly on your face or on top of a full coverage foundation.
On top of my intense moisturization routine, I started adding this to my weekly routine and it has really helped my summer skin. The steam from the shower helps this product penetrate your delicate facial skin and leaves my sensitive skin soft and glowing.
Okay so let’s be real, I have one million sunscreens but I constantly end up just using the kid’s sunscreen. No matter what precautions I take I always end in tears with sunscreen in my eyes. Its terrible, miserable, I hate it. While I like to use my sensitive facial sunscreens, in reality, I usually just slather this all over my body.
The truth is I hate shoes. I am always barefoot in the summer but that ends up destroying the skin on my feet and ruins brand new pedicured feet. This product is the only thing that seems to fix my cracked heels. Usually, this is $25, but I found it on Haute Look for $10!! What a steal!
I spent the last 10 years bleaching my hair, completely destroying my very thin, fine hair. I stopped dying my hair about 10 months ago but am still working hard to restore my hair to a healthy state. Let me tell you, swimming in our chlorinated swimming pool is not helping the state of my hair. This oil is everything, it’s so light and hydrating; I didn’t think that combination was possible in hair products but this is the holy grail of moisturization.
What are some summer beauty products you can’t live without? I am constantly searching for new products to keep my skin soft and supple, so help me out on my hunt!
