This past week we had our first day of 110-degree weather, you know what that means?! It’s officially Summer! A new season means a new makeup routine and my summer makeup bag has all of my favorite products in it. My summer makeup bag includes a lot of bronzer and products with SPF and absolutely no burnt orange eyeshadow.
There is a myth out there that if you spend a ton of money on makeup then you are buying the best products, nope, no way, absolutely not true. The products I use on my everyday face is a nice 50 / 50 split between drugstore and high-end products. The best makeup comes at all price points.

In addition to this blog post, I also have a makeup and summer makeup routine saved on my Instagram story highlights. While I love to talk about all things makeup and beauty on my blog and Instagram, let me preface this blog post by saying I am in no way shape or form a beauty expert. I just really like makeup and love to talk about it with other makeup lovers.
For me, summer is all about a natural, bronzy, highlighted face. Even though it is not my reality, I love to look like I spent the last week on a beach in the Bahamas, I mean but really, who doesn’t? Okay, time to talk about all things summer makeup.
Summer Makeup Products
Before I put on any makeup I always curl my eyelashes, apply Aveeno daily lotion and then some sort of primer for dry skin. This summer, I am switching off between Becca’s First Light Priming Filter Face Primer and Tarte’s Base Tape.
Foundation
After I let my primer dry for a few minutes it’s time for some foundation. For summer, I mix IT cosmetics CC cream (shade: light) and Revlon ColorStay foundation (shade: natural beige), I like the consistency of this mixture as well as the shade it creates. I mix the combination up on the back of my hand and then apply it with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, this sponge is unbelievable.
Concealer
Like everyone else, I use Tarte Shape Tape (shade: light sand) and think it’s magical. I put a little product on my ring fingers and just dab, dab, dab under my eyes and then take the pointy end of the real techniques sponge and dab some more. This product lasts all day and gives the perfect amount of coverage.
Setting Powder
I have super dry skin so I use a very light amount of powder on top of my makeup. Just a quick swipe over my face with a fluffy brush and that it, I’m done. In summer, I use IT Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder for an additional layer of sun protection, SPF is king in my life.
Bronzer
Bronzer is a must have in summer, give me all the bronzer. I wrote a blog post all about my favorite bronzers, you can read that here. For application, I lightly dab my brush in the product and I start by going in on my forehead, I brush, brush, brush until it is blended. Then I take that brush and apply bronzer under my cheekbones and keep brushing until everything is nicely blended together. For bronzer, it’s very important to start with a little amount of product and build to the color of your liking. I constantly change the bronzer I use, my favorites are listed below.
Blush
I love blush, LOVEEEE!!! This summer, I am using the Morphe Blush Trio in color pop of pink, three perfect shades for summer. I lightly put it on the apples of my cheeks and that’s it, just a little splash of color.
Highlighter
I like to shine to the gods! Shine bright! If I want a super glowed up look I will start with a cream highlighter (I use Milk Makeup highlighter in shade Lit) and then top with a powder highlighter. If I want less shine, then I will just use the powder. I’ve been using the Jouer highlighter in color Topaz forever, it’s amazing, I’m obsessed.
Eyeshadow
This is probably weird to most people but for eyeshadow, I use all face products. For my base, I use IT cosmetics powder and take an eyeshadow brush and put it all over my lid. After my eyelid is covered, I now go in with my crease brush and put bronzer in the crease and I blend, blend, blend. I then take a blending brush and blend the crease out. After the bronzer is completely blended out, I then dap my ring finger in my highlighter and just lightly dab on my eyelids. tada! The perfect summer eyelid. If I am looking for a more made up look than I use Kat Von D eyeliner. I think less makeup is best for summer so most days are no eyeliner days.
Mascara
If you have been around here for a while you know I live for Lash Paradise. Its the best, yes I have tried Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and I still prefer Lash Paradise. I always prime my eyelashes with L’oreal’s primer and then use two coats of Lash Paradise.
Eyebrows
Filling in my eyebrows its a must! My eyebrows are naturally so thin! I look naked without my eyebrows filled in. For my eyebrows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and it is the perfect product!
Lipstick
My favorite topic. I use a new lipstick every day, seriously, I love lipstick. My go to is a nude lipstick with heavy brown undertones. Before I touch my lips with the lipstick I always line and fill in my lips with lip liner, this is so important!!!! Lipliner makes all the difference, seriously. I never use the same lipstick combo so I have listed all of my favorite lip liners, lipsticks and lip glosses below.
Lip Liners
Lipstick
Lipgloss
Now that you know ALL of my summer go to’s. What is your number one must use summer beauty product?!
Happy Summer!!
