The Best of Palm Springs: Palm Springs Restaurant Guide

The Best of Palm Springs: Palm Springs Restaurant Guide

I love Palm Springs, it’s unlike anywhere I have ever experienced. The beautiful desert landscape nestled up against dramatic mountains, it’s breathtaking. In my travels, I have not experienced anywhere as dramatic, beautiful, fun and full of delicious options as Palm Springs. And the best part is I get to call this city my home!

I have called Palm Springs home for about a year and a half and I have loved living here! Now that I am an experienced desert resident, the question I get the most from friends, family and Instagram followers is: Where to eat and drink in Palm Springs?!

Palm Springs Travel Guide

Not only is Palm Springs a beautiful destination but it also has some of the most amazing restaurants and bars. The Coachella Valley has turned into a must-visit Southern California destination for bachelorette weekends, golf getaways, birthday trips, etc and I am always getting asked for recommendations.

Instead of continuing to copy and paste my list of favorite restaurants and bars, I’ve rounded up all of my recommendations here. These are, in my opinion, the best restaurants, bars and hidden dining gems. From coffee to late-night cocktails, I’ve included the best of the best.

Cocktails in Palm Springs

This list of delicious restaurants and bars is not only from my experience but I also had some help from amazing Palm Springs bloggers (Hi BrookeCynthia, and Nicole!) These three ladies are Coachella Valley Experts! We recently celebrated Wine Wednesday together at Dead Or Alive and discussed all of the best restaurants and bars in this city we call home. It was so fun to hear all about their favorite places while drinking delicious Rosé.

I could give you 20 options per category because Palm Springs has that much good food but for this guide, I have narrowed it down to the absolute best 5 per category. When deciding on this list I had a few criteria that I used to judge the restaurants. I wanted the establishment to be delicious (because DUH), affordable and really showcase the beautiful ambiance this city has to offer.

Palm Springs like a Reality TV Star

Palm Springs like a Reality TV Star

I have said this a few times on the blog but will probably say it 100 more times, I really love reality TV. Like my true love in life is reality TV, judge me, but the trashier the TV the more I love it. I specifically love The Real Housewives but in 2018 I began watching Vanderpump Rules and Southern Charm, man oh man am I ever hooked. In honor of Real Housewives of Orange County coming back next week, I wanted to do a post dedicated to Reality TV.

Now that we live in Palm Springs I love to go to new bars and restaurants and talk about the episode of RHOBH that was filmed there or the weekend the Vanderpump kids were here. My knowledge of all things reality TV is a bit embarrassing but I have no shame.

Where to stay:

Parker Palm Springs: Prior to the older Kardashian sisters staying here during a trip to visit their late grandmothers Palm Springs home, there was a show dedicated to the Parker Palm Springs staff called “Welcome to the Parker”. This short-lived Bravo show aired in 2007.  This hotel is gorgeous, I mean the Kardashians think its worth enough for them to stay there. It’s a desert oasis with all of the Palm Springs flair that you anticipate.

Colony 29: Remember that one short season when Joyce (Yoce) was a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Yeah, most people don’t. She “arranged” a trip to Palm Springs where the cast stayed at the most beautiful villas nuzzled up against the spectacular Palm Springs mountains.

The Viceroy Palm Springs now the Avalon Palm Springs: this hotel is SO cute but more importantly its the location where Justin Bobby and Audrina escape to where he gives her the promise ring or um, I think he refers to it as a commitment ring, whatever the hell that is.

Must Visit:

Palm Springs Walk of Stars: Visit Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules cast member Lisa Vanderpump’s star located right in the middle of the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. This must-visit star is located right in front of Ruby’s Diner. There was a great RHOBH episode where she received the star and was standing next to my favorite Nsync member Lance Bass.

Palm Springs Aeriel Tramway: Who can forget that uncomfortable scene of Kim Richards praying next to a trashcan? Not one person. That scene was during a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Palm Springs trip where they visited the famous aerial tramway. I love going to the top of the mountain and escaping the extreme heat that is the Coachella Valley in the middle of the summer.

PStram
How beautiful is the Palm Springs tram?

Trina Turk: This isn’t technically a reality TV show but when Martha Stewart still had her talk show “Martha” they did a Palm springs episode and spent time at the Trina Turk in downtown Palm Springs. Even though that’s technically not a reality TV show I really wanted Trina Turk to be on this list because that store is THE CUTEST!

Cabazon Dinosaurs: Looking for a great Instagram photo while driving into Palm Springs, this spot is Kardashian Instagram approved and if we have learned anything about them is that they know a GREAT Instagram opportunity.

Hopefully, Don’t Have to Visit:

Palm Springs Desert Regional Hospital: Do everything you can to avoid visiting the Palm Springs Desert Regional Hospital like Vicki did on the Real Housewives of Orange County. That famous episode where the girls went to Glamis and Tamara flipped the dune buggy sending Vicki to the hospital in a helicopter, no thank you!

Eat:

Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge: If you are looking for a great happy hour location then follow the Shahs of Sunset to Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge. This is the location that Reza hosted his surprise wedding to Adam at.

Jensens Finest Foods: On season one of  Real Housewives of Beverly Hills sisters Kim and Kyle do their grocery shopping at Jensen’s as part of their annual Easter desert trip. Jensens is a great place for a sandwich or a high-end cheese!

If I included all the Coachella hot spots and all of the reality TV Instagram posts, I could go on for days. If all of your favorite reality TV stars haven’t already convinced you, Palm Springs is a must visit spot while visiting Southern California.

Happy Exploring.

The Perfect Bachelorette Party in Palm Springs!

The Perfect Bachelorette Party in Palm Springs!

Are you Bride heading to Palm Springs for your Bachelorette Party? If you are looking for inspiration for the perfect weekend, you came to the right spot.

Palm Springs is becoming the Charleston of the west when it comes to bachelorette parties, in the past 4 months I have attended two bachelorette parties in Palm Springs. This picturesque desert town is the perfect location for a laid-back, relaxing weekend with your favorite people.

If you are looking for a location crawling with straight, single men for your friends on the trip then keep looking, Palm Springs isn’t the best location to hold your fun weekend. But if you are looking for the cutest eateries, relaxing pool days and cute cocktail bars than Palm Springs is the perfect location.

Summer is off-season in Palm Springs and while the prices may be tempting the heat can also be a different level of miserable.

Restaurants
I live for Mexican Food so my suggested list may be a bit bias.

  • Rio Azul, great for large groups
  • Kaiser Grille, the location is perfect and possibly the best people watching in Palm Springs
  • Las Casuelas Terraza, YUM! The outdoor sister to the Palm Desert staple, they are able to do set menus for larger groups.

Pool Clubs
If you are looking to spend your afternoon at a bar that is cozied up to a pool there are tons of great options in the Coachella Valley.

  • Ace Hotel and Swim Club
  • Elixir Pool Bar and Grill at the V Palm Springs
  • The Saguaro Palm Springs
  • Arrive Palm Springs

Day Time Activities

  • Aerial Tram
    • We all remember that great episode of RHOBH where they ride the Palm Springs aerial tram and once they are on the peak Kim Richards Prays next to the trash can. If its good enough for Real Housewives its probably worth a visit but In all seriousness, the peak is beautiful. There is a 6000 ft altitude change in the 10-minute ride, so bring a jacket because it is cold!
  • ATV
    • If your group is looking for something outside the normal bachelorette party ideas, right up CA-111 is an offroad rental ATV Park. This 4-wheeler adventure spot is 10 miles away from downtown Palm Springs and the perfect afternoon activity for an adventure-seeking bride.
  • Hike
    • If staying up all night drinking is your cup of tea than this activity is probably out but if you are looking to opt for a physical activity the mountains around Palm Springs are crawling with hiking locations. My personal favorite is the bump and grind, approximately 3 miles round trip and is great for individuals of all endurance levels.
  • Spa
    • The Desert is crawling with luxurious spas to relax and rejuvenate at during a boozy weekend. If you are looking to really indulge yourself the Palm Springs Yacht club is the place for you. This luxurious spa located within the Parker Palm Springs is dreamy and worth booking an appointment at.

Palm Springs Lodging
The cute mid-century modern homes that line the streets of Palm Springs play the perfect host for bachelorette parties. There are homes that please every budget and group size. Outside of the traditional AirBNB below is a list of additional websites that manage some of the best Palm Springs home rentals.

Cocktail Bars
Palm Springs plays home to some fabulous cocktail bars and drag shows below is a look into some of my personal favorites. If this list doesn’t tickle your fancy, a quick yelp search will give a long list of additional bars perfect for your group.

  • The Tonga Hut Restaurant and Tiki bar
  • Bootlegger Tiki
  • Toucans Tiki Lounge
  • Retro room Lounge
  • Hair of the Dog

There is one traditional club in Palm Springs targeted for heterosexuals, just a bit of advice, don’t go! Its slimy, it’s small, it’s in a strip mall – this location does not feel very true to the area and defeats the purpose of having a bachelorette party in Palm Springs.

Here’s to a perfect weekend celebrating your future nuptials with your besties in Palm Springs!
