Pantone’s Color of the year, an announcement that makes me so excited every year. Do I agree with the color selection every year? No way. But this year I am so excited about the selection, Living Coral is the perfect color to welcome 2019 with.
Okay, now I am going to be very honest about Pantone’s color of the year selection; while I think the color is beautiful I don’t traditionally think this color is beautiful on my fair skin. As a result, I really had to dig deep to find pieces that I am excited to incorporate into my wardrobe.
I have spent my entire professional career in the B2B marketing space so I know the importance of perfectly matching the Pantone shade but in this situation that was not a priority to me. Most of my selections are not exact matches for the Living Coral shade and yet I am so excited for all of these pieces.
In my new hometown of Palm Springs, bright, vibrant colors are overly loved and embraced. But as you can tell by my Instagram, my normal wardrobe consists of black clothing and lots of neutrals so this new year I am trying to mix it up. In 2019 a goal of mine is to introduce more color into my wardrobe and Pantone’s color of the year is the perfect place to start.
My all-time favorite Pantone selection was the 2016 color, that beautiful rose quartz. Pantone then followed that up with, in my opinion, the worst selection ever the 2017 color “greenery”, nope, not for me.
I hope you love these coral finds as much as I do! Are you a fan of Living Coral? What other products would you like to see in this shade?
Okay, I’ll admit it, that title is misleading. Do I know what the most popular fashion pieces from all over the world were for 2018? No. Do I know what the most popular pieces on my blog, Pinterest and Instagram were? ABSOLUTELY!
The biggest adventure of 2018 was right here, my blog, Hat On The Map. Blogging has been something my husband has encouraged for many years but it wasn’t until this year that I had the courage and confidence to pursue this dream. In 2018, I took the time to really invest my energy into making my blog dream a reality.
When I began blogging and putting my life and style out there on Instagram, I was scared. I was nervous about what my friends and acquaintances would think but let me tell you the response I received from my friends, family and strangers has been incredible.
Thanks to my blog, I am now able to regularly share all of the items I am excited about. From beauty and makeup to my favorite groceries, y’all have followed along every step of the way. The best part is, not only have you guys followed along but you have fallen in love with these items as well.
I have rounded up the most popular items from my blog, Pinterest and Instagram and am so excited to share these items with you once more.
The Most Popular Items for 2018
The below items are the most clicked on pieces from my Pinterest, blog, and Instagram. In staying true to my attainable fashion brand, everything listed can be purchased for under $50. I don’t think anyone will be surprised by this fact but 7 out of 10 of these items were purchased from Amazon. So, here we go.
I wrote a blog post a few months back about Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup Dupes (you can read that post here) and to no surprise, it was my most popular blog post. The dupe I sang the most praise for was the one I wear almost everyday, the Revlon Colorstay Foundation and in turn the most popular makeup item on my blog or Instagram.
This skirt is seriously the most flattering skirt I have ever owned, no joke. In the past month this skirt has been featured on about half of my Instagram posts, so when I say I am obsessed I am not kidding.
I am currently loving off the shoulder sweaters, maybe I was supposed to grow up in the 1980s. This was the perfect sweater to get me through the holiday season and the perfect shade of maroon to transition to January in.
I have lived in these slippers the past two weeks. Embarrassingly enough, I even wore these through the Orlando airport after one of our red-eye flights. Whatever, I love comfort.
What was your absolute favorite item that you purchased in 2018? Beyond this above list, I think my favorite item are these sequin joggers! Comfort and sequins, yes yes yes!
Thanks for following along and supporting this blogging journey of mine. I am so very thankful for every individual who has cheered me along on this scary but very exciting blogging journey. I am so excited to see what 2019 has in store.
Earlier this year, I started doing a monthly Amazon fashion haul and it has been such a hit! I search Amazon up and down and purchase about 10 pieces of the best quality, affordable pieces from Amazon. Well, my December Amazon haul might have been my favorite haul thus far. This order has brought my favorite new winter fashion staples.
Can searching for fashion on Amazon be a chore? Yes, you must search and search some more but Amazon has some really cute items! I am able to find the exact pieces all the popular online boutiques have but on Amazon. The best part is, these pieces are much more affordable on Amazon.
The theme of the December Amazon haul is “cute outfits for a fun night out with your friends from high school”. Who doesn’t want to look their best when they run into the cute boy you sat behind in geometry? During the holiday season, there are always so many casual meet-ups and a new, cute outfit is exactly what is needed for those nights out.
We just returned home from a week in Medellin, Colombia, its such a beautiful, unique city with beautiful shades of green and delicious coffee. Medellin weather is amazing, its known for its spring-like temperatures year round and with the exception of one cool morning, the entire trip was 75 degrees of perfection.
I learned so much from my trip to Medellin so I am working on a fun travel guide for Americans traveling to the city. A year ago, I never would have thought that I would travel to Colombia because I thought it was a violent, scary place. I was so wrong! It’s such a beautiful country with nice, welcoming individuals who are very proud of their country.
In true Heather fashion, I wanted to pack light. I only took a carry on for my 6-day trip so I had to pack items that were versatile and I could re-wear. Luckily my wardrobe is FULL of black, black pieces are so versatile and mix well with almost every other color.
I really don’t need new summer or spring clothes like, at all! but the day before the trip I made a stop in Target and bought several new things that I excitedly packed for Colombia. All over Instagram, I see women talking about their affinity for Target clothing. (Also, if you aren’t following me on Instagram, why don’t you head that way and follow me?) To be honest, I am traditionally not the biggest fan of Target clothes but they have new lines of clothing that are super cute and actually really nice quality.
Every piece I took on the trip was under $50 because you know this girl loves a deal!
Now let’s talk about some clothes!
Outfit 1: A Day In The Park
Medellin is covered in these big, gorgeous, luscious parks, such beautiful outdoor space.
Outfit 2: Exploring The Hotel Grounds
We stayed one night in a sprawling hotel in Rionegro, right near the airport. The grounds were beautiful and covered with Peacocks.
Outfit 4: Another Day, A Different Park
Graphic Tee Outfit
Graphic Tees for Women
I love a graphic tee, I think they are so cute and look great with jeans or skirts. My favorite graphic tee is this old one from Abercrombie years ago. Unfortunately, its no longer available so I put a list together of my favorite graphic tees under $25.
Outfit 5: A Night Out On The Town
Fall Transition Outfit
Casual Fall Outfit
I was going through my pictures today and realized that I was so concerned with getting outfit pictures that I only got one picture with my husband in it, oops! I had such a great time in Medellin, I can’t wait to perfect my Spanish so I won’t be so embarrassing next time I visit South America.
As sad as I am to see summer go, I am so excited about the fall fashion trends on the horizon. While we live in Palm Springs and won’t see fall temperatures at all, we spend a lot of our weekend time with my family in Big Bear Lake, CA. Big Bear Lake is a Southern California mountain town nestled 6500 ft in the San Bernardino Mountains where the fall weather is often quite chilly allowing me to wear all of my favorite sweaters and booties.
This fall, I am really digging the muted colors that this season is bringing us. I love a neutral, I am not huge into bold prints or bright colors so the trends that fall 2018 is bringing us is giving me all the feelings.
I’m obsessed with all of the below trends, Fall 2018 is a good season for fashion lovers. This list is all of my favorite fall finds and includes links to where you can find all the items. Everything I have listed is under $100 because I love a deal!
Leopard is everywhere but my favorite leopard print item I have seen is the shoes! Like the mules and heels below. These shoes are perfect if you want to embrace this trend without going a full-on Snooki.
This is a summer trend that is transitioning nicely into the fall. A high waisted skirt with a cropped sweater is one of my FAVORITE looks. Also, let’s talk about this dark green color for fall, IM OBSESSED.
This jacket kind of falls into two of my fall trend categories it is both suede and western inspired and let’s just say I can’t get my hands on this jacket fast enough!! oh, and did I mention it’s only $31!
Gosh, this trend really makes me wish I held on to all of my outfits from freshmen year of high school, in 2003 I got down with a romantic sleeve.
