Things Im Obsessing Over This Week: Bell Sleeve Sweaters

Things Im Obsessing Over This Week: Bell Sleeve Sweaters

Happy first week of fall!! With all the fall fashion flooding my Instagram the past few months, it feels like fall has been here for weeks. I love fall fashion trends, if you want to read more about my love for fall fashion I posted about it here and here.  I love fall fashion outfits so much but because of my location get very few opportunities to dress for the occasion.

Last Thursday, my husband said we should go to Denver next weekend and without skipping a beat I said sounds great. He has friends that will be in Denver for a geology conference and my oldest friend that just had a baby lives in Denver. Booking a trip so last minute stresses some people out but its par for the course with the two of us, we love spontaneous adventures.

I have really been looking forward to trips outside of Palm Springs. Don’t get me wrong, I love Palm Springs, but we are almost in October and every day the thermometer still reads 100 degrees. So when I have a trip planned to somewhere with cooler temps I count down the minutes until we hop on that plane.

Last year, when we were living in Birmingham, AL I stocked up on all kinds of fall weather clothes, now looking back it probably wasn’t my smartest choice. I knew I was moving to the desert and yet I couldn’t stop buying new sweaters and boots.  One of the sweaters I purchased in multiple colors is this BP flare sleeve sweater from Nordstrom. At one point they were on sale for $23 so I really took advantage of that.

Side Note: Birmingham, Alabama in the fall is a wonderful place. The weather is PERFECT, the leaves are changing and everyone is in such a good mood because college football is back on.

Yesterday, I posted this picture on Instagram and got SO MANY questions about this sweater. I LOVE this sweater so I was so happy to see that my Instagram friends did as well. But there is one problem when I went to send links for this sweater I couldn’t find it anywhere; it’s sold out everywhere! I scoured the internet for hours looking for this sweater, and nothing.  Believe me, I looked everywhere!

So I did what I know how to do best and I went on a shopping mission. Luckily, I found some super close dupes to this sweater. I hope you love these below-listed bell sleeve sweaters as much as I do.

What is your favorite fall sweater trend? I live for an oversized sweater with fun details like an open back or a flared sleeve. I love to pair sweaters with a high rise jean and my favorite booties.
Happy Fall Y’all.

Fall Fashion: Casual Weekend Outfit

Fall Fashion: Casual Weekend Outfit

We made it to Monterey, CA! Yesterday, we woke at 5AM to make the trek from Palm Springs to Monterey for a fun little vacation with our closest friends from Birmingham, AL. I was so excited to escape the extreme heat of Palm Springs and enjoy the cooler coastal weather. The cooler temps also meant I was able to bust out my favorite, new fall clothes.

I get so excited when a new season is upon us and I can invest in some new fun clothes. This year the purchases were sparse because where we live there is no such thing as fall. A fall day means the temperature drops below 100 degrees, but definitely not sweater weather.

The fall clothes I have invested in items that can be worn in cooler weather but also appropriate for the spring and summer. For instance, this thermal shirt looks so cute with jeans but also perfect for lounge attire. Its soft, comfortable and very breathable; I have seen this shirt all over Instagram and thought it was time I finally invested in one for myself.

Last time I posted these jeans they were the most popular clothing item I have ever posted on my blog and that makes perfect sense because they are an amazing pair of well fitted, affordable jeans. A must purchase!

If you follow me on Instagram you will quickly see that these shoes are a new staple of mine. I am obsessed! If you are looking to invest in one pair of shoes this fall than this pair of leopard mules is the pair that you need.

Clearly this trip to the central coast is not fun at all. Next time you visit California the central coast is a must stop! The weather is perfect, the views are amazing and the wine is delicious! I think I need to write a perfect California road trip because I love to play tour guide for this great state I live in.

The Perfect Dress to Wear to A Fall Wedding; A Comprehensive Outfit Guide For Wedding Guests

The Perfect Dress to Wear to A Fall Wedding; A Comprehensive Outfit Guide For Wedding Guests

I love attending a wedding; it’s the perfect opportunity to dress up, drink lots of champagne and dance the night away to all my favorite top 40 hits. Traditional “wedding season” has come and gone but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a wedding on your calendar in the next few months.

We got married last labor day weekend, we had a very non-traditional wedding. We got married on a Friday with a very small, intimate ceremony in the Yosemite Valley Chapel. Two days later,  we had a huge reception in Southern California with all of the people we love. For our reception, I wore glitter high tops and danced the night away. If you follow me on Instagram this past week, I gave a glimpse into the most magical weekend of my life.

A month after our wedding, our besties got married in Birmingham. It was the perfect opportunity to wear the most extra dress I could find. I ended up wearing a long sleeve sequins dress and it was what all my extra dreams are made of. I channeled my inner 1974 Cher and flipped my hair back and forth on the dance floor all night long. It is not evident by the below photo but the dress was a beautiful dark green, jewel-toned color.

Fall Wedding Guest Attire

This fall we are only attending one wedding but it falls on a very important date, my 30th birthday!! Yes, I am spending my 30th birthday at a wedding where I will know MAYBE 6 people. I nominate myself for the wife of the year. My goal at this wedding is to look SO fabulous, I need to bring in my 30’s the right way.

I hope this blog post will serve as your comprehensive guide to all things fall wedding attire related. I have looked through thousands of dresses to put this guide together. These lists consist of dresses that inspired me and will make you feel your best as a wedding guest. Every dress listed in this post is under $100 because who wants to spend more than that on a dress for someone else’s wedding?

There are two trends that I am really into this season that have heavily influenced my list. Those trends being, deep jewel tones and textured materials, especially velvet.

COCKTAIL ATTIRE

From personal experience, most of the weddings you will be invited to will be cocktail attire. If the invitation says “dressy casual”  or semi-formal then plan on wearing a cocktail dress.  It’s 2018 so people get real creative in ways they say cocktail attire.

A cocktail dress is simply a nice dress that isn’t a ball gown. Cocktail dresses traditionally are short dresses but its perfectly acceptable to also wear a midi or maxi dress. My favorite 2018 cocktail attire trend is the jumpsuit, I live for a jumpsuit. I have only worn a jumpsuit for one wedding and it was a great life choice! I was able to show off all my dance moves without worrying about being appropriate.

He should wear: A suit and tie

She should wear: A cocktail dress or jumpsuit

Formal or Black Tie

Black tie attire is the perfect time to pull out those fabulous floor-length gowns. I have actually never been to a super strict black tie wedding, most of my friends are from California and California weddings seem to be much more casual than the Southern weddings I have attended. If I was heading off to a super formal black tie wedding I would absolutely rent the dress. I have used Rent The Runway quite a bit and am always happy with the items I have received. In fact, the dress I wore to the wedding at the top of the blog post was from Rent The Runway.

The list I put together in this category are all under $100 and the PERFECT option to wear to a formal wedding.

He should wear: A tuxedo or a dark suit and tie

She should wear: A long evening dress or gown

ACCESSORIES

No matter what type of wedding you attend, accessorizing can make or break the outfit. When it comes to high heels, I like to stick to the basics like nude or black heels. A few nice accessories and cute heels are a great investment, not only will they be perfect for that wedding you are attending but also great for a date night or a girls night out.

I hope this list of dresses and accessories finds you exactly what you are looking for this fall. There is something so magical about a beautiful outfit and I hope this guide inspires the beautiful outfit you wear at the next wedding you attend.

The Best Of Labor Day Sales: Casual Fall Outfit.

The Best Of Labor Day Sales: Casual Fall Outfit.

Today is a big day in our house for two very different reasons. Its the day my husband looks forward to all year long, the start of college football season but it also happens to be our first wedding anniversary! Besides the aforementioned reasons, my favorite part of the long, holiday weekend is all the sales!

I never post on Saturdays but I couldn’t wait to share these deeply discounted items. My entire outfit is on major sale for the long weekend and everything is under $50!

Leopard Print Mules

September marks the start of jean season and close-toed shoes so what better way to bring in the new month then stocking up on some new jeans and fun mules.

I made my husband take tons of pictures of me throughout the neighborhood because  I really wanted to show off my new leopard mules that I am obsessed with!! They are Steve Madden and look so good with casual jeans or a dress.

My high rise jeans are 50% off and are the perfect, ankle, transition jean. So comfortable, so cute. I am usually a 6 Petite in jeans but size down with this retailer.

This black halter top is meant for summer but would look great underneath a leather jacket, once the temps start to drop.

Besides purchasing tons of cute jeans and shoes, I am also looking for a large area rug to purchase this weekend so if anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears!
